Are You Complying with Immigration Regulations?
Despite the economic hardship facing many businesses, the Department of Homeland Security’s enforcement and investigative branch known as ICE is hard at work on worksite immigration compliance. ICE enforcement actions have become an almost daily occurrence, and the results of their efforts are posted on their homepage. Initially, ICE sought to generate publicity designed to encourage compliance by targeting big name employers. Over the past few years, their funding and training has increased and they are now able to set their sites on any company, regardless of size, that may be circumventing federal regulations. ICE investigations focus on both U.S. citizens and foreign nationals and in many instances federal criminal charges are levied.
