German Lawyers Hold Congress, Create Information Experts Panel

Hamburg, Germany, known as ‘the gateway to the world’ was the site of this year’s Deutscher Anwaltstag, or German Lawyers Day. The annual two-day congress is organised by the German lawyer’s association Deutscher Anwaltverein (DAV), an IBA member organisation. The May event brought together some 1500 lawyers from all German federal states to discuss issues such as information research and marketing.

German lawyers discussed the increasing necessity of the Internet and the economics of workflow tools, such as the recently announced LexisNexis® Right News legal information service, which summarises personalised information from 140 jurisdictional, legislative and technical sources in 37 distinct areas. With the service, users can personalise what relevant information is sent to them.

In a show of collaboration, the creation of a new expert panel, composed of reputed experts such as the tax lawyer and expert of the legal web scene, Jürgen Schneider, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Dr Benno Heussen and others noted for both their theoretical and practical expertise, are helping LexisNexis to ensure that their products and services meet the needs of legal professionals.
