International Bar Association seeks ‘Fellows’ for the International Criminal Tribunal of the former Yugoslavia
The IBA has been awarded a grant in the amount of $250,000 from the Open Society Institute (OSI). This grant will support the recruitment and placement of four IBA ‘fellows’ to work at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) during the next year.

The IBA has published its Guidelines on Conflicts of Interest in International Arbitration. The Guidelines – the result of over two years of consultation and review with leading arbitration and industry authorities around the globe – represent the most comprehensive work to date to define the framework by which the impartiality of arbitration in the international arena can be most effectively assured.

 Members of the Antitrust and Trade Committee, the Technology and E-Commerce Committee, the Arbitration Committee and the Capital Markets Forum, can now get up to date latest news in their legal sector on their committee websites – by clicking on the left hand margin bar which says ‘News headlines’ on their committee homepage. The news is updated everyday and draws on publications from around the world. At the moment this is being piloted in these selected committees and will be rolled out if well received. German Lawyers Hold Congress, Create Information Experts Panel
 Hamburg, Germany, known as ‘the gateway to the world’ was the site of this year’s Deutscher Anwaltstag, or German Lawyers Day. The annual two-day congress is organised by the German lawyer’s association Deutscher Anwaltverein (DAV), an IBA member organisation. The May event brought together some 1500 lawyers from all German federal states to discuss issues such as information research and marketing.
