Proposed Stark Rule Changes May Knock Out Many Ancillary Service Arrangements
The proposed 2008 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (PFS), to be published in the Federal Register on July 12, 2007, contains major revisions to the Stark and related Medicare reimbursement rules directed at physician self-referral arrangements. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) outlined eleven proposals or initiatives that could provide the necessary 1-2-3 punch to knock out many existing arrangements.
